About SOUTHERN CABLE GROUP BERHAD
Company Description
Established in 1993 and headquartered in Kuala Ketil, Kedah, Southern Cable Group Berhad is one of the few integrated cable manufacturers in Malaysia. The company produces cables ranging from low voltage (LV) up to 132kV high-voltage (HV) and is expanding into extra-high voltage (EHV) 275kV cables. Its products include power cables and wires, communication cables, and control and instrumentation cables. The group serves power distribution and transmission, communications, building and construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors.

This integration helps manage raw material costs, shorten procurement cycles, and maintain quality control. Revenue is generated through short-term purchase orders (c.70% of revenue), where pricing is pass-through based on prevailing input costs, and long-term contracts (c.30%), where metal costs are adjusted quarterly while plastic costs are fixed. It is an approved panel supplier to Tenaga Nasional Berhad for power distribution and transmission infrastructure.
Revenue Segment
In FY2025, the revenue breakdown by business segment was Power Cables contributing 92.1%, Control and Instrumentation Cables contributing 2.5%, and Communication Cables contributing 0.1%.
Geographic Segment
In FY2025, the revenue breakdown by geography was Malaysia contributing 87% and the United States (Exports) contributing 13%.
Top Client
Key clients include Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Telekom Malaysia (TM), and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). The company also supplies a major unnamed US distributor and serves electrical, plumbing, and air-conditioning (EPCC) contractors for data centre and infrastructure projects.
Operational Scale
As of the most recent reports, the Group operates at a production capacity of c.55,000km per year. It runs four Continuous Catenary Vulcanisation (CCV) lines. Vertical integration capacities include aluminium rod production at 60,000 MT, copper rods at 18,000 MT, plastic compounding at 7,800 MT (expanding to 12,000 MT), and wooden cable drums at 60,000 pieces.
